Handmade and handpainted, MODERNIST is a collection of six terracotta tile designs in three or six colourways each, some available in two sizes options. Finished by hand with various degrees of matt to glossy glazed colours. The nature of the terracotta material, and traces of the handmade brush mark in the glaze, give the tiles a patina and warmth.
Behind the collection:
A set of lino cut prints that Neisha did as an art school project is the starting point for the Modernist Collection. A project that taught her, as she says "the joys of what simple motifs can do when they are arranged in a repeating sequence. My original designs were one colour mono print, but here I have separated the motif onto two or three colours. At the time of making these patterns I did not have any art movement in mind. Looking at the results of this collection now, it has a real feeling of Vienna Secession, Josef Hoffman, De Stijl and Bauhaus".
