Fashioned from Antique Reclaimed Grey Barr and French Refined Limestone
What is unique about this border is the materials it is composed from. Composed out of genuine pieces of Antique Reclaimed Grey Barr and French refined limestone, for the first time a complementing border is available for this antique stone floor.
Border or frame a floor, create a central carpet or feature area with this unique crescent detail patterned border tile. As these borders are gently ground and polished by hand there is a gentle surface undulation impossible to reproduce by machine.
Each piece is sliced thinly and then cut to the correct shape, gently assembled over a stone or marble substrate,then ground flat and polished.
Supplied over a stone base ensuring that the border is not only stable and sound, but also easy to install. Totally handcut, hand assembled, a truly handmade product. No border is the same as the artists hand is vital in creating natural nuances within each unique piece.
Thicknesses can be 2cm or to order as can the border widths and material combinations.
All the De Ferranti borders are fully customisable.

De Ferranti's Border collection takes many forms. Materials range from Marble, Limestone, Vocanic Tuff, Rare Porphyry's (Imperial Porphyry, Porfido Antico, Porfido Imperiale) and Serpentines, to Antique Rare materials such as Giallo Antico. Other materials on offer are metals (brass, alpaca, copper bronze, steel, iron), bone and horn, inlays, mosaic, the list is endless.
Materials can be combined and may also incorporate fragments of the field material to tie in the border with the floor. A border is a very clever way of creating sections within rooms or the installation as a whole. Often wood floors with a stone border or vice versa work in perfect harmony to create that necessary linkage between materials and surrounding rooms.
The various disciplines used in the De Ferranti Border collection is wide. Dsiciplines include Stone Mosaic, Marble Mosaic, Glass Mosaic, Pebble Mosaic, Micromosaic, Marble Inlay, Hardstone Inlay, Pietre Dure, Overlay, Instarsio, Scagliola, Cosmati, Opus Sectile, Waterjet (ie. machine cut), combinations of the materials described.
