More about Embossed Work:

Embossed work, or Repoussage, is the ancient art of hammering out or pressing thin metal from the reverse side to produce designs in relief.

The limitless potential of this technique is well illustrated by the fact that both the Statue of Liberty and Classical Greek armour were produced using repousse work. Today, working to special commission, De Ferranti applies it to producing raised relief elements for doors, coffered ceilings, mirror surrounds and a wide range of decorative panels for cabinetry.

Advancing the concept still further, De Ferranti also combines repousse metal with stone to produce unique tiles and borders.
