Rima & McRae - Haus Series

This unique collection comes from designer-maker Rima Patel of Rima & McRae, the bespoke finishers with whom De Ferranti has long been working.

‘I think of these tiles as stone carpets,’ says Rima. ‘The pattern flows across the tiles as if
it’s been there for ages. The faded grandeur of worn-by-time textiles and rugs was our main
inspiration, but we’ve opted for geometrics and ‘florals’ that are less constrained that the usual designs. Our patterns are very versatile and you can arrange them in a number of ways. A pattern can be made out of a pattern.’

Catbells

Hot air balloons from a 1920s illustration inspired this delightfully whimsical pattern. more..

Froswick on stencilled stone

Inspired by a 1920s rug from the Viennese Arts & Crafts movement, this abstract design is characterised by simple shapes, minimal decoration and geometric motifs. more..

Knot

Rima began thinking again about the idea of a stone carpet and knotted rugs. As the design began to take shape she wanted to accentuate the way the strands of circles were in the form of a plait or knot. more..

Maidenhair

Reminiscent of an 18th Century English damask, this design is wonderfully romantic. Once again Rima was looking at textiles/carpets for her inspiration. more..

Sail

This design was inspired by the classic herringbone found in marble or wood floors. Rima particularly wanted to keep the print looking hand drawn, keeping the markof the hand or the handmade. more..

Yewbarrow

A Faded Indian block printed textile in the V&A gave Rima the idea for this exquisite design. She adores strong geometry but also wanted to retain the floral/decorative aspects. more..
