Orlando Boyne, who for 20 years headed the Stanleys Quarry operation in the Cotswolds, has joined a new operation called De Ferranti in London to supply luxury wall and floor surfaces.
Before moving to Stanleys, Orlando managed an estate that included an old slate quarry, and is an aficionado when it comes to stone in the UK.
Now he joins De Ferranti as Sales Director to bring interesting new materials, including natural stone, to architects, designers, developers and to the public.
Orlando is the son of respected architectural writer and editor Colin Boyne and has always been a keen advocate of indigenous stone being used in UK building projects.
"The durability and beauty of natural stone is such that, at the high end of the market, customers are demanding a much wider choice," says Orlando. "We're poised to meet and surpass those expectations. The future of stone is very exciting."
De Ferranti is a new company setup by stone and ceramic expert Alvaro Ziani de Ferranti, the former business partner of Paris Ceramics founder Steve Charles. Alvaro has spent a decade sourcing rare and unusual materials for walls, floors and decorative elements for contemporary interiors.
Alvaro's skills are in demand by international architects, designers and decorators. But now, with De Ferranti, he also has a portfolio of "exclusive but affordable luxury" stock products for private clients to access and buy from his company.
