Sawley Abbey

Sawley Abbey was an abbey of Cistercian monks in the village of Sawley, Lancashire, in Great Britain.

It existed from 1147 until its dissolution in 1537. Its ruins, which are controlled by English Heritage, can be seen to-day and are open to the public. While not a very extensive ruin, there are boards on the site that give information about the history of the place and parts of the church and refectory can still be seen.
